Give it a few days: Usually the pain settles after 3-5 days, but you still need to be careful not to chew food into the extraction sites. We see a lot of wisdom tooth patients and each case is different; follow the instructions given by your provider and ask her/him specific questions if you need.

Post op: You can eat relatively normally now although waiting a few more days might be better. Avoid hard, rough and abrasive foods. Best to eat on the other side for a few more days. Brush and floss gently in that area with very light rinsing. Dry sockets generally appear about 3 days after procedure. I always recommend that you follow the oral/written instructions of the dentist who actually treated you.
