Pediatric gi said that prevacid doesn't stop baby from spitting up. is that so? she has been restless & has diarrhea so going to take her off.

Agree: The spitting is a mechanical problem fo reflux, while the Prevacid alters the acidity of the stomach contents, so the vomitus is less irritating and causes less heartburn. For some infants, that makes a big difference in fussiness. Elevation and thickened feedings are more effective for the actual spitting.

Not directly: In many kids it calms down the irritation triggered by the reflux so they don't do it so often. It doesn't have a direct effect but may reduce spit ups indirectly.

Prevacid: Stop the medicine if you feel that's causing the diarrhea. The restlessness can be due to the ? GERD that she has, and why was the prevacid prescribed, other reflux precautions would be needed to help control the symptoms, not just the medications. Better take your baby to her pediatrician for re-evaluation, best wishes
