Very likely not: Benign soft tissue, including fatty, lumps or tumors are thought to occur 10 times more frequently than cancerous growths. If a lump is greater than 2 inches in size, it has a greater risk of being cancerous. Being tender or painful is actually more often associated with being benign (possibly an infectious abscess); benign lumps tend to grow more slowly. Watch for changes and seek eval if changes
