Acid on skin : Battery acid has a very low Ph and if exposed to skin may cause chemical burns. Prevention should include a barrier for protection; such as a pair of work gloves. Dry skin and discoloration should resolve if exposure to acid stops. Any skin breakdown with redness or blisters should be evaluated by a physician in person.
