Well,...: There is no definitive answer for you in regards to his nerves severing, but his risk of worsening paresthesia's and pain certainly increases with worsening cervical disc disease and stenosis. Be sure he gets the proper medical evaluations and clinical exams with the appropriate Imaging testing done to more definitively give him a better prognosis for treatment and any recovery, etc. Best wishes.
