Probably a cold: sudden onset 10 days ago suggests a cold. Viral upper respiratory disease typically lasts10-20 days as your immune system needs time to adapt to a new virus. Recovery can occur in less than a week if you've been exposed to a similar pathogen before. Now, having inflammation related to allergies can make a bad thing worse when it comes to colds.
