Varies: You are describing recurrent effusions occurring postoperatively from what sounds like a partial menisectomy. There are multiple potential causes including synovitis, infection, Seroma, loose bodies; thankfully it sounds like it is improving and hopefully will resolve. If not, sending the fluid off to the lab for microscopic analysis would likely show the cause.
