COLACE: is a stool softener NOT a Laxative thus no cramping would be expected....take it as directed and INCREASE YOUR FLUID INTAKE which could include some PRUNE JUICE (a natural "mild" laxative) Hope this is helpful Dr Z

Exercise/fiber: First you need to check your diet to make sure that you have enough fiber (vegetable, whole grain, fruits) in your diet. Regular exercise will also help your bowel to move. If these measures fail, probiotic may be beneficial. If none of these measures help, consult a gastroenterologist for an assessment.
