Varies: Arthritic knee pain tends to come and go. This is usually influenced by activity level, the weather, and diet. Frequently i start my patients on a stretching program, to avoid inflammatory foods, lose weight, and to stop smoking. Otc meds can be added, when needed. A ct scan can see degenerative arthritis, but not as early as an MRI can.

Maybe.: Degenerative joint disease or osteoarthritis can hurt all the time or wax and wane. Mri can detect early changes of this better than any other test. The cartilage is the first thing to be damaged and MRI is the best way to look at it.
