Possibly: The armpit is a common location for infections and enlarged lymph nodes. if there is irritation to the area (like a life jacket strap), increased sweating then cooling, it could cause a boil to develop. There are lymph nodes in the armpit also, and if there is a local infection the lymph node may swell. See your Dr if it doesn't start to go away after a week.
