Not usually: If you have normal sensation and feel discomfort when sitting on something hard, then you will adjust your position and not have any problem other than potentially a sore bottom. If you are immobilized or have diminished sensation, then prolonged sitting on a hard surface without frequent position adjustments can lead to skin injury, breakdown, and ulcers.
