A member asked:

I have a large hematoma on my ankle the size of a tennis ball. should it be drained?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Needs to be seen: Hi, Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly. We take many factors into account when considering percutaneous drainage of a hematoma. Mechanism of injury, size, location, bleeding risk, infection risk, chronic blood thinner usage, deeper involvement of the joint itself, presence of neurologic symptoms, etc. I would recommend being evaluated by a doctor in person soon. Hope this helps.
