A member asked:

I have a sunburn and my ankle are swelling how long does it take for it to go down? and how can i help that process?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on the burn: severity. The burn causes injury to the tissue which releases inflammatory chemicals which then cause vessel swelling and fluid. If the sunburn has not caused blistering, it should improve a lot in 5 days. Elevation of legs above the heart and cool compresses will help reduce sweling. Compression with ACE wraps helps. Please use sunscreen in the future. Each sunburn increaes cancer risk.
