Although the two: medications are similar the dosing and side effects can be significantly different. It is never a good idea to take someone else's medications even when they are similar. If he takes his bottle to a local pharmacy and explains the situation I am certain the pharmacist will sell him enough pills to make it home.

Essentially the same: Benazepril and lisinopril are virtually equivalent. The same dose of one can be substituted for the same dose of the other.
