Yes, could be.: If the stone lodges low down in the ureter (tube leading from the kidney to the bladder), then it can mimic hip pain. But the hip pain could be due to something else entirely as well. Kidney stones can grow, but they can also dissolve (especially if you are medications to help dissolve it, or if you drink fluid until urine runs clear). If the pain is severe, or if you have urinary symptoms, TTYD.
