Evaluation: You can expect your dentist to evaluate the tooth in question and to determine what treatment, if any, needs to be performed. A simple fix can usually be accomplished at that visit.

Chipped tooth: Dentist will evaluate damage to tooth and decide on appropriate treatment. Dentist will then describe findings to you, and with your approval then proceed with treatment. May be as simple as polishing the chipped area or placing a restoration. Trust your Dentist to choose best option for you.

Contact DDS: See your dentist ASAP. If the area can be smoothed down, you are done. If a composite resin or laminate is needed, the dentist will inform you and place the restoration.

No worries: If the chip is unsightly, your dentist can bond it to restore the chipped area. There is no need to do so if it looks OK.
