A member asked:

Semen sample must be kept at body temp during home to lab transport for a spermiogram. does this also apply if a microbiological test is performed?

Dr. James Lin answered

Ideal, but...: It is advisable to keep urine or semen specimen at body temp, but not practical. In general practice, collect specimen as properly instructed and submit it as soon as possible, preferably within 1 hr; that is enough for daily practice. Besides, always correlate the test results with personal clinical profile so to deduce adequate significance. More? Ask your doctors timely.
