A member asked:

Can a person still have early onset parkinson's disease with a normal datscan?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: The DaTscan is not perfect, and it does not have 100% sensitivity to be able to document Parkinson Disease. As well, it does not have perfect specificity either, namely, for those who don't have the disorder it's not negative. Because the test is not perfect, clinical correlation is required.
