I presume by: gastric cardia failure you mean GERD/gastroesophageal reflux disease with sphincter dysfunction proximal to gastric cardia allowing reflux of gastric acid/stomach contents back into the esophagus.Surely this can cause bad breath.First line treatments:avoid heartburn causing foods, tight clothing, stay upright after eating, elevate head of bed, antacids, H2 and proton pump blockers.SEE DOC FOR EVAL
