Many causes: These are many causes of chronic cough with sputum production: a) chronic rhino sinusitis due to allergies or other problem, b) chronic bronchitis, c) bronchiectasis, d) etc. Given that this seems to be causing you measurable distress, you should see you physician and get evaluated. While you are waiting for your appointment you can: quit smoking (if you smoke), try nasal saline rinses.
