A member asked:

How can you tell if you're postmenopausal after having a hysterectomy but no oophrectomy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No difference: If a woman was not menopausal before a hysterectomy with her ovaries left behind, she will not be menopausal after the hysterectomy. She may experience menopausal symptoms for about 6 - 8 weeks, after which the ovaries will have adjusted to releasing their hormones into just one instead of two veins draining hormones from the ovaries.
