Chronic GERD: It is not unusual for patients to require long term medicine to get GERD symptoms under control and then to maintain that remission of symptoms. Many patients are not able to go off medicines completely. The goal would then be to get down to the least amount of medicines which controls you symptoms well. Anti-reflux precautions help.
