Ruq pain: Pain in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen is often caused by gallstones and/or inflammation of the gallbladder. Occasionally it is due to liver pathology. I recommend evaluation by an abdominal surgeon in the hospital emergency room if you are in severe pain especially with associated tenderness. Appropriate tests will be ordered in order to make a diagnosis.
