If you had scarlet fever as a child can peeling hands many years later be caused by having had scarlet fever?

Not the cause...: Although after having Scarlet Fever you can get peeling (desquamation) of the skin on the hands/feet, this occurs towards the end of the acute illness. Years later, the cause is likely dry skin or another completely unrelated issue. The strep infection from years ago is not to blame.
