Spotting/bleeding: Some women have a few days of light bleeding premenstrually or around the time of ovulation. Bleeding between periods can be normal, but at some point along the way, i would probably recommend a visit to the doctor and maybe even an ultrasound just to be sure there is nothing wrong that can be treated. Birth control pills are frequently used to help manage irregular bleeding in women.

Irregular period: Different bleeding patterns are not all that unusual but to be sure make sure you are not pregnant. Wait and see what happens but if the symptoms persist you should see your doctor.
