Possibly ligamentous: It depends on the kind of injury you suffered and how long ago it was. The chance of compression fractures or occult fractures are really rare in the spine. But more commonly, we see muscle spasms and ligament injuries which can cause a lot of discomfort, specifically limiting your range of motion. If you have no weakness/numbness in the legs exercise might be the best next option.
