A member asked:

Can small, non smelly, clean 'farts' cause uti if they disperse to vaginal area while seated? is there harmful bacteria in gas? had klebsiella uti.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No. No.: There are normally stool bacteria in every living person's butt crack, and the nearby skin, from front to back. There are also stool bacteria in every "fart" regardless of what it smells like. These stool bacteria are normally there (they are supposed to be there), and merely being there does not cause UTI's or other infections. Infections are due to other reasons plus bad luck.
