R flank pain 55 y/o: Perhaps be a kidney stone that passed hence the reason why the pain initially resolved and now their back and causing more pain. Given age above 50 recommend seeing your doctor so he or she can obtain a more detailed history, performed a physical examination, likely order diagnostic imaging studies, perform blood and urine tests, and most likely do a rectal exam and refer you for a colonoscopy
