Group B strep: Group B strep can be a normal bacteria that colonizes the vagina in about 20% of women. Typically one would not screen for GBS prior to an HSG. If a doctor already knew that a patient was colonized then it is reasonable to treat the GBS prior to doing the HSG. GBS positive women are treated during labor to prevent transmission during delivery
