Hyperacidity: Heart burn caused by Acid reflux from stomach into the Esophagus is a common disease. It can be treated with antacids of which there are many different types such as Pepcid or one of the PPI drugs such as Omeprazole. PPI are the most effective drugs and relive heart burn in almost all patients within 24-48 hours. Upper Endoscopy may be necessary if the symptoms do not improve within one week.
