It could be athletes: Foot, if there was no injury or not caused by footwear. Try some OTC med like Cruex or others that will be on the same shelf. They are creams, sprays, & ointments to choose from.

You may have...: A fungal or a yeast infection in the skin of that area. Try lotrimin (clotrimazole) ultra as an otc attempt, but if it doesn't begin to work in a week, see a doctor. (podiatrist or dermatologist).
