Is akathisia simply a lack of feel good chemicals in the brain? or is it because there is a lack of dopamine and other chemicals to make you feel good

Akathisia mechanism: is not known for certain. Some suggest an imbalance between the dopaminergic/cholinergic and dopaminergic/serotonergic neurotransmitter systems. It may involve the D2/D3 dopamine receptor occupancy. It is likely a complex combination of factors yet to be determined. Specific evaluation is necessary to determine cause and specific treatment. Best regards.
