Cardiomyopathy: It depends on your heart function. Do you have symptoms of CHF, like increasing swelling of feet, increasing lethargy or breathlessness? Echo (that diagnose the cardiomyopathy) might be the best to assess for heart function and that would help to decide if you have CHF or not. Unfortunately with this disease, heart function might deteriorate with time. Talk to your cardiologist for further info.

Serious concern.: Given your age, you may not have the full-blown symptoms of CHF yet, but an underlying cardiomyopathy (assuming the diagnosis was made by echocardiogram or "usual means") is a serious diagnosis. Your likelihood of developing CHF is so high that you have to be followed yearly (if not more often) & start on meds at the 1st sign of heart failure. Keep a diary, talk to Cardiologist.
