How concerning is antibiotic resistance at this time? are there any new antibiotics being created?

Be very concerned!: This is a giant problem and getting worse, a very serious concern. Some new antibiotics are in the research pipeline, but various bacteria will also eventually develop resistance to any new ones. Things the public can do are 1) not insist on antibiotic prescriptions for common viral infections, which won't help anyway, and 2) political pressure to stop antibiotic use in raising food animals.
