Anemia evaluation : Many causes of anemia. Even if it was iron-deficiency anemia ("tired blood") very common, the hematocrit takes several weeks to respond. More rapid response is seen in the reticulocyte ("retic") count. Of course, if there is no response, he needs a workup for the many other causes of anemia.
