A member asked:

Can you have normal blood work and have acute leukemia symptoms for 3 months?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Let me clarify: Leukemia begins in the bone marrow and then spills over into your blood. The symptoms are absent until your blood counts are affected by the leukemic process. This may take 1 to 3 months but it is difficult to time the exact onset of leukemia in the marrow . The symptoms are due to Anemia(low hemoglobin/RBCs), Infections(due to low white cell count) and abnormal bleeding due to low platelet counts
