For the last two days i've had a faint ringing out of my left ear. also my ability to hear out of that ear is muffled. any advice for treatment?

Tinnitis; cerumen: The ringing is called tinnitis; the muffling of the sound could be because of build of ear wax called cerumen. If you are using head phones which stick into your ear canal they block the egress of the ear wax from the canal and it builds up. Much better are the cups which surround your whole ear and the wax can get out.

Needs appointment: If this was sudden, I would recommend you see your doctor for an exam today or tomorrow to see if there is a condition that steroids or antivirals might help. Some but not most sudden hearing loss can be helped. If this was a slow and insidious onset, then tinnitus (ringing in the ear) may just be a sign that chronic hearing loss is progressing.
