A member asked:

Can lab technician infect anyone with hiv during blood drawing procedure by using infected needle?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe in the...: Maybe in the movies or mystery novels. In real life, no lab technician is walking around with an HIV-infected needle waiting to use it on somebody else. Safety protocols are followed every time, all the time. That means needles are single-use, and a lab technician need not take a single step while holding a used needle, because he or she always has a needle-disposal container right there.
