White vs. Grey: Multiple sclerosis is due to multiple plaques in the white matter of the brain while parkinsonism is due to involvement of the basal ganglia (grey matter) see: http://answers.Yahoo.Com/question/index?Qid=20091026025919aab78vd for a very detailed answer with multiple points. Good luck.

Neurology consult: I would recommend consultation with a neurologist specializing in those diseases or movement disorders. Multiple sclerosis has a particular appearance on brain mri. Spinal fluid analysis may also help.

HUGE DIFFERENCE: MS is autoimmune disorder starting late 20's into 30's, and affecting eye, balance, strength, sensation, coordination. Parkinson's starts late middle age, is degenerative, associated with resting tremor, slowing of motion, imbalance, muscle tightness (not weakness). Cognitive issues could be seen in both. Get second opinion from neurologist, you do NOT have both!!
