Cost cutting: The hospitals are reimbursed at specific rate, often only a specific amount per delivery.Depending on the contract they have with your insurer, it often doesn't matter if extra tests were done, they only get the basic fee.Since a A+ mother & her infant have no basic risk of RH and rarely any ABO incompatibilities,many rarely type babies unless mom is RH negative.

Baby's blood type: Baby's blood type is not sheaths done unless there are issues in the baby such as newborn jaundice. However some blood ( drawn from the umbilical cord =baby's blood) is kept in the lab for few days after birth and if you request that for baby's blood type, the test could be done
