A member asked:

I am 31 years old, for past few years i have had sharp chest pain on the left side every now and then but has occured more often the past few months?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sharp pain: Recurrent Sharp and fleeting chest pains suggest pinching of an intercostal nerve which runs between two ribs. The pains are brought on by deep breath, cough or other movements of the rib cage. To be sure have a physician examine you to see if the discomfort can be pinpointed to the actual rib cage and not the lungs or heart which I feel is highly unlikely as a cause of your chest pains.
