Yes: the left side of the colon makes an S shaped turn before getting to the rectum. Many people can feel that S(the sigmoid colon) in the low middle or left abdomen.

Not Normally: Normally one can not feel their colon while examining abdomen above the pelvic area.But there are some conditions in which you may be able to feel the colon.If you have impacted stools,or large bowel obstruction.Look at the picture.Colon is shaped like an inverted U and ends in rectum the last part.It is covered by abdominal muscles and is not normally palpable
