How long does it take for the clindamycin to take effect on a tooth infection. the whole left side of my face swollen and seems to get worse every day?

Few days: Usually 2-3 days. If no improvement by 4 or 5 days, a change in antibiotics or dental surgery- E.G. drain abscess may be in order

See Oral Surgeon : Sounds like a serious infection. See OS right away. Antibiotics won't cure this problem.

24-48 hours: Know that antibiotics will not cure an abscessed tooth. Antibiotics may reduce severity and spread of infection, but root canal treatment/crown or extraction/implant/crown required. You may need I&D, change of antibiotic, and/or referral to a specialist. Contact your Dentist immediately.
