Boil: Signs that a boil or abscess requires incision and drainage would be painful swelling, redness and tenderness. It's possible that your boil no longer needs drainage. Try hot(not too hot) compresses and if there is no further tenderness, swelling or drainage it may not require evaluation by a physician. See your MD as needed.
