A member asked:

Pain in both sides of upper back for 2 weeks no pain with breathing, could this be a lung infection?the painkillers that i take are not helping.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Upper back pain: This is unlikely to be pneumonia due to absence of cough, fever, chills, sweats, pain on deep breath, wheezing or shortness of breath. Musculoskeletal causes are more likely. Have you any history of strain from exercises, occupation, housework, posture problems, being in cold drafts? If symptoms persist consult your physician and appropriate examination and testing will be done.
