Bacteria in colon: Escherichia coli (e. Coli) is a type of bacteia (rod shaped, needs oxygen to grow) normally lives in the colon. Fecal bacteria. Some strains make toxin and cause disease. E. Coli is normal in the colon, can cause infection in other places, like urine, blood, etc. Don't want it in your water supply, or your beaches.
