Unlikely canker : If it tested positive then it wasn't a canker sore. Though hsv1 is quite common and generally not anything of concern. What can happen is that you can have a canker sore that tests positive because the surrounding tissue is shedding the virus coincidentally.

Yes/unrelated: HSV1 infection is likely universal although only a small % of people get cold sores from it . The cause of canker sores is unknown although suspected to be some sort of reaction to a bacteria in the mouth by some. Thus the chance of having a positive HSV1 ab test is high regardless of whatever other disease you may have.
