Herpes New info!: Heres is contagious where one gets infected. If one is infected ion the labia or other parts of the perineum than a condom on the male partner will not protect him from her viral shedding. There is not test to tell us where one is contagious unless we know where your sores are at with a break out. All sexually active couples should now know their herpes status. Medication may lower the risk.

Yes: The virus causing herpes in the genitals can "shed" and "spread" just before there is an outbreak. You can protect your partner by using a rubber condom, but avoiding sex at times you feel an outbreak is coming on is wise. See your doctor about daily antiviral medication to reduce your outbreaks and your infection risk. Be faithful to an annual female exam to learn about new medical helps.
