Youth & Good Genes?: Summary pretty well covers it. Late adolescent/young adult muscles respond best to exercise. Different genetic endowments respond differently to exercise too. You have your age in your favor & probably are gifted in your musculoskeletal system. Also, if you have a history of significant exercise & laid off for awhile, muscles previously developed have "muscle memory" & respond faster & grow more.
