A member asked:

I am 48 with asthma. i have been getting albuterol neb treatments for years, with no side effects. sunday, and today my body started itching bad. why?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Itching: Generalized itching without a rash can be seen with very dry skin, early allergic reactions, diabetes, prickly heat, or overactive thyroid. Allergy to albuterol would be unusual. For now, take an antihistamine like benadryl(causes drowsiness) or claritin(nondrowsy and drink adequate fluids. You may have to try discontinuing albuterol if itch persists. See your physician as needed.
